Winemaker Notes

The Beaujolais Blanc appellation represents less than 5% of Beaujolais production. The Estates often have a reserve planted with Chardonnay which embellished the seigniorial table.

 

Rare treasure in Beaujolais, of a rare delicacy, the Beaujolais Blanc is a bit the hidden face of the Pizay vineyard, the pearl of the Château. Its luminous dress and its fragrance are so unexpected that from the first meeting, it is a love story that begins.

 

Its rich and deep gold coat is haloed with green reflections, they announce the freshness to come, they prepare us for the sweet hours that await us...

 

 

The aromatic opening settles on fresh nuances of green tea, almost minty. Candied citrus fruits follow: caramelized pineapple; a zest of orange, bitter perhaps…. Then, on a background of spices, the pepper seems to play with our mucous membranes. Provocative, it keeps us awake, trying to sneeze… This game continues on a delicate woody background, without a toasted mask, scents of propolis, beeswax mixed with blond honey, acacia and spring flowers come back fresh. Rich and complex, it is a fresh, changing bouquet.

 

 

On the palate, the attack is precise, supple, soothing. It is followed by a nice balance in the mid-palate, fat, almost saline, melting, with nuances of blond tobacco.
