99pts Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2021 Stromberg GG offers a bright and pure, enormously radiant and earthy/herbal bouquet of crushed porphyry rocks and concentrated Riesling berry aromas intermingled with iodine notes. Great purity mixed with intensity and complexity. Full-bodied, refined and enormously salty on the palate, this is a compact, fresh and challenging dry Riesling with elegant and rich fruit, great density and no makeup at all. This is a bone dry but juicy wine that represents a long-distance runner with salty grip and tension. Tasted as a sample at the domaine in July 2022

Take a trip under the volcano! Still a touch of youthful, leesy funk, but that doesn’t distract from the fascinating hibiscus, flint and wild-herb aromas. How this concentration of minerality can be crammed into a silhouette this sleek is also a mystery to me, but clearly it’s possible! Diamond-bright finish that must be tasted to be believed. From organically grown grapes with Fair'n Green certification. Drinkable now, but best from 2023.

A touch more fumy than the Felsenberg, gorgeously smoky/mineral first impression. Mouth-watering lemon and grapefruit tension on the palate, firmly structured by the acidity and perfectly balanced by the fruit and the savoury smokiness.
Winery Notes
Especially in dry, comparatively hot years like 2021, the huge potential of deep-rooted, old vines becomes apparent. The results that Tim Fröhlich bottled from his monopoly location in Stromberg are downright fantastic. The vines are well over 60 years old and firmly rooted in the highly mineral porphyry soil of the south-facing steep slope. They only give a small yield, but it has it all. Tim's Grosses Gewächs from Stromberg may have never been so intensely fruity and focused. First of all, the green herbal and leafy notes that are so characteristic of Tim's signature set the tone. In the glass, they then gradually clear the stage for a fruit that is as precise as it is expressive, in which orange peel, pineapple and ripe, yellow stone fruit take center stage. Floral notes appear in the background, only to find their way into the finely woven structure in the long, very harmonious and fresh finale. Spicy, juicy, salty - that has pressure and is umami in the best sense of the word. Just the kind of wine Tim wants: it makes you want to take a second sip!
