Cordero di Montezemolo Langhe Nebbiolo 2023 - 750ml
Cordero di Montezemolo Langhe Nebbiolo 2023 - 750ml
92pts James Suckling
An intense, deep, vibrant wine full of spicy aromas of mint, licorice, balsamic, eucalyptus, dried violets and prunes. The attack is supple and dense, with a full body, refreshing acidity and firm tannins that are velvety and refined. Still austere in the finish, with the potential for aging. Try from 2027.
91pts Vinous
The 2023 Langhe Nebbiolo is an absolute delight. Crushed flowers, orange peel, cedar, cinnamon, sweet pipe tobacco and kirsch all grace this mid-weight, super-expressive Langhe Nebbiolo. All the elements are very nicely balanced.
91pts Wine Enthusiast
Fresh rose petals and wild strawberries float from the glass with an energetic, youthful purity that captures Nebbiolo's essence. The wine dances with remarkable grace, delivering bright red fruits and floral notes while maintaining its serious side through subtle tannins and precise structure, creating a joyful yet sophisticated expression.
90pts Wine Spectator
A powerful version, this red offers a broad profile that exhibits cherry, raspberry, earth and hibiscus flavors. Fresh and crunchy, with a juicy finish. Enjoy slightly chilled. Drink now through 2032. 4,300 cases made, 1,700 cases imported.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Here's an informal and versatile wine to pair with your favorite pasta dishes. The Cordero di Montezemolo 2023 Langhe Nebbiolo offers hints of mint and dried flower over dried blueberry and blackcurrant. The wine ferments in stainless steel and cement, and no oak is used. However, the 2023 vintage was not an easy one, and although there is freshness, the fruit also appears slightly faded. This is an ample release of 50,000 bottles.
Jeb Dunnuck
A youthful ruby color, the 2023 Langhe Nebbiolo is pretty on the nose with aromas of raspberry liqueur, wildflowers, minty fresh herbs, and sweet earth. Medium-bodied, it is juicy and refined on the palate, with an easygoing nature and a clean finish. This is a highly appealing and easygoing wine to drink over the near term.
About the Wine
A clear and distinct representation of the main characteristics of the Nebbiolo grape. Here is what this wine has to offer. A product conceived in the vineyard and in the cellar to obtain an expression of freshness, youth, immediate pleasantness and complexity, while still being easy to drink with all courses throughout a meal, accompanying everything from meat to fish, from the most subtly flavoured starter to the most succulent. It is made from the Nebbiolo vineyards in Alba and Cherasco and from the harvesting of the grapes produced by vines within our Barolo vineyards which are less than 7-8 years old, harvested separately and reclassified for the production of Langhe Nebbiolo. A soft approach in the cellar, with lower temperatures, shorter maceration and more whole berries during fermentation, promises a more delicate and fragrant approach to this brilliant example of varietal expression.
Winery Notes
We cultivate an area of more than 50 hectares of vineyards on the hills around Alba, in the heart of the Langhe. All of this land is located in prestigious positions.
In addition to the historical MONFALLETTO site in the Annunziata hamlet of La Morra, we have vineyards in Alba, Castiglione Falletto, Guarene and Cherasco. One of the distinctive features of our vineyards is that they are particularly large and unified in a few sites, unlike the majority of other local producers, who operate on “micro-plots” located in various parts of the area. This gives us a logistical and operational advantage which facilitates quick and effective intervention, when necessary, guaranteeing a high level of consistency in terms of quality on each plot, as well as encouraging the real beneficial effect of organic cultivation. We cultivate our land in compliance with a 100% certified organic farming system, and the varieties we grow, which are typical of the area, Nebbiolo, Dolcetto, Barbera, Arneis and Chardonnay, are planted in varying locations, with different exposures and altitudes, depending on their natural predisposition to bear ripe and balanced fruit, based also on the type of soil and microclimate.
We use them to produce and offer a small selection of wine labels, all with protected geographical indications.
