A more deeply pitched array of distinctly earthy red berry fruit scents precedes delicious, concentrated and muscular flavors that terminate in an overtly rustic finale. This is very Nuits in basic character and will need a few years of cellaring to round off the tannins.

Winemaker Notes

Gilles Jayer directs this 10.5 ha domaine and is rarely one for extended chit chat about the characteristics of the vintage and 2014 was no exception. He concisely noted only that "we waited until the 23rd of September to begin picking. There was hail in the Hautes Côtes and in Echézeaux and overall I had less volume in 2014 than I did in 2013. As to the wines, they're forward, round and easy to like but the quality is good if not truly exceptional." The malos are always very long due to the ice cold cellar and they didn't finish until August. As such several of the wines were quite reduced. As usual, Jayer made a point of noting that he intends to bottle the '14s without fining or filtration.
