The Domenico Clerico 2021 Barbera d'Alba Trevigne offers extra fruit weight with blackberry, dark plum and spice. Winemaker Oscar Arrivabene says this is a very good year for Barbera. The wine feels lavish and soft over the palate, to pair with cheese-filled pasta. A high 15% alcohol content will help to break through the fat in that dish. Some 15,000 bottles were made.

Similar in appearance to the Dolcetto, the 2021 Barbera D'Alba Trevigne is lush and luxurious, with toasted cedar, black plum, and new leather. Full-bodied, with a crunchy lift of acidity, it has sweet tannins and rounded fruit of boysenberry, mocha, and forest floor. It will benefit from another 6 months or so in bottle and can be enjoyed over the following 5-10 years.
