This solidly built rosé shows good breadth, offering a ripe, pure core of cherry and raspberry flavors flecked with hints of rose petal, with orange acidity that reins in the round, open-knit palate. A fruity, easygoing and refreshing rosé. It has notes of small berries, frozen raspberries and mild spices. Medium-bodied with crunchy berries and a fruity, soft finish.

The 2023 Rosé Côtes du Rhône comes in at the same quality level as the 2022 I tasted last year. Wafting with fresh strawberry, raspberry and a touch of white flowers, the medium-bodied 2022 is an easygoing, inviting Rosé from Guigal that caps off with lifting freshness on the clean finish.

Winemaker Notes

Clear, brilliant and fresh appearance. Fresh with an expressive nose of red fruits and citrus. Notes of raspberry and redcurrant. On the palate, fruity, fine and round. A well-balanced and elegant wine.

The Guigals work with fruit specifically grown to maker superior rosé wines. These vineyards consist of clay, limestone and alluvial soils. The 2023 is comprised of 70% Grenache, 20% Cinsault and 10% Syrah. Yields in these vineyards are a low 2.3 tons per acre and the vine average age is 25 years.

About the Wine

The Guigal family has made serious dry rosé wines since the 1940s, and their Côtes du Rhône Rosé, like all their Côtes du Rhône wines, is humble in name only. The wine bursts with irresistible fresh red fruits and yet is also serious and satisfying.  While this Rosé is always a lovely aperitif, its intensity and richness make it perfect for the table, and it pairs well with all manner of cuisines.  And starting with the 2020 vintage, the wine has a stunning new proprietary bottle: a subtle enhancement for an already elegant wine!

Guigal uses only environmentally sustainable methods of pest, disease and weed control. They work to conserve biological diversity, water resources, soils and ecosystems on their land. Packaging materials are recyclable or biodegradable. Lastly, they are committed to achieving a zero waste target.
