92pts Wine Spectator
Expressive notes of licorice and candied violet on the nose accent flavors of blackberry paste, black cherry pâte de fruit, ground coffee, dried sage and tar in this dark, rich red, which is brightened by the tang of orange peel acidity. The sculpted tannins show a velvety edge that aids integration and the overall harmonious feel. Best from 2025 through 2034. 20,000 cases made, 7,500 cases imported.
Winemaker Notes
Very covered cherry red color, intense on the nose, highlighting ripe black fruits that gain intensity as the wine evolves in the glass. During the tasting, a fruity base is perceived, nuances of the typical aromas of Tempranillo and spicy notes characteristic of the great vintages of this brand. In the mouth it is voluminous, with ripe and silky tannins. The aftertaste is long and very persistent.
Its silkiness and elegance on the palate allow this Malleolus 2020 to pair with any roast or stew, making it one of the Ribera del Duero wines recommended by the public and critics.
Winery Notes
Bodegas Emilio Moro is one of the oldest leading quality producers in Ribera del Duero. The history of the family goes back 3 generations. 1st generation Emilio Moro was born in 1891 and 2nd generation Emilio Moro in 1932. Both were born in a viticulture environment surrounded by vineyards and grew up treading grapes and racking wine in their native village of Pesquera de Duero, in the province of Valladolid.
Emilio Moro taught his son, Emilio how to make wine but also to love it. Then Emilio passed along that knowledge, passion, and love for wine to the third generation. Currently the third and fourth generation together run the winery.
