94pts Decanter
Great purity of fruit and a silky elegance on the palate that consistently surpasses the already-elevated norm for this village. This wine is a selection of the best parcels among the 26ha Faiveley owns in Gevrey (over 30 parcels). The wines that don't make the cut are sold to other négociants; the average ripeness of the wines that do are 13% alcohol. The grapes are mostly destemmed and fermented with very little punching down before being aged in cask (20% new).
93pts James Suckling
A rich and meaty Gevrey-Chambertin with plenty of black-cherry and blackberry fruit, wrapped around a very healthy core of tannins. Delicate wet-earth touch. Long, well-structured finish with excellent harmony. Drink or hold.
92pts Wine Spectator
Bright and juicy, this red evokes cherry, currant, mineral and spice flavors, with a hint of tobacco. Firmly built, with solid grip on the lengthy finish. Well-balanced overall. Best from 2025 through 2040.
91pts Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
A 35,000-bottle cuvée derived entirely from Faiveley's own holdings, the 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes unwinds in the glass with aromas of red berries, cherries, loamy soil and spices. Medium to full-bodied, textural and seamless, it's concentrated and vibrant, with ripe tannins and a long, expansive finish. This is a real success.
90pts Vinous
The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes offers raspberry and crushed strawberry scents on the nose, darker fruit emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied, quite smooth and silky, well judged acidity with fine poise on the finish. This is showing very well and will require just 2-3 years in bottle.
Tasting Notes
Our old vines are over 35 years old and produce an exceptionally intense and aromatic wine that reflects the unique character of its terroir. With its deep, clear ruby red hue, it reveals notes of black fruits and excellent strength and concentration.

About the Vintage
2020 is a solar vintage yet the wines show a lot of freshness. The yields are low but the quality is excellent with a perfect degree of ripeness. The harvest was early in the year under scortching weather and came to an end on September 1st. Our Côte de Nuits wines have a beautiful typicity: they are concentrated, floral and fresh with all the finesse of their grape variety.
About the Wine
By royal ordinance from Louis-Philippe, the name "Chambertin" was added to the name of the village and it officially became "Gevrey-Chambertin" in 1847. Our parcel selection of old vines aged over 35 years old produces an exceptionally intense and aromatic wine.
