95pts Wine Spectator
Strawberry, raspberry and cherry aromas and flavors are beautifully displayed in this charming version, with loam, tobacco and herbs adding detail while the aftertaste goes on and on. Shows balance and formidable length.
93pts Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
'With cherrywood or cedar, the 2019 Brunello di Montalcino has a savory, almost spicy side that follows garden herb, cola, dark cherry, plum and sweet cherry. The fruit is slightly baked or cooked with hints of road paving or smoky tar. This is a concentrated wine for sure, with fruit sourced from three sites: Collesorbo, Pian Bossolino and Giardinello. Production is 32,000 bottles. Drying tannins want a steak and polenta dinner.
93pts James Suckling
Sour-cherry, peach and floral aromas follow through to a medium body with fine tannins and a refined texture. Fresh and vivid energy. Not the richest wine, but shows tension and balance. Graphite at the end. Drink in two or three years.
Winemaker Notes
Aromatically the wine has notes of dried rosemary, basil, and thyme, as well as crushed violets, red berries and an underlying flintiness. On the palate the wine is savory, with a saline undertone as well as perfectly ripened red fruits and a smooth tannic structure.
