90pts Connoisseurs' Guide
Calling this wine “posh” would be to do it a disservice as there is real depth and layering, not just juicy richness at work here, but it is very fruity and affably open. While abundant and very accessible fruit does lead the way, the wine shows a little more range and reach with each return to the glass as highlights of creamy oak, briar and loam come into play. We would find it hard to argue with those who might pull its cork in the coming year, but it strikes us as being at least a few years away from its fully evolved best.
Named in honor of Frank Family’s owner and founder Richard Harvey Frank, the second vintage of RHF is a complex and savory wine that comes from our estate vineyards in the heart of the Rutherford appellation. Bold, full bodied and textured it shines in toasted oak, blackberries, and punches of cinnamon and classic Rutherford dust. Dark chocolate lingers around ripe currant and a subtle hint of vanilla on the endless finish.
