95pts James Suckling
This is so precise and tight with sharp acidity and very fine, tiny bubbles. Yet, it’s rich in flavors with a broad array of hazelnuts, salted lemons, crushed chalk and hints of wild herbs and flowers. White grapefruit, too. Textured and sleek, almost creamy, while remaining mouthwateringly fresh. Drink or hold.
94pts Wine Spectator
A vivid Champagne, with lime blossom, graphite and ground cardamom notes serving as a fragrant thread that winds through flavors of baked white peach and pineapple fruit, coffee liqueur, candied mandarin orange peel and fleur de sel. The mousse is fine and creamy, a luxurious layer wrapping the racy spine of acidity.
Importer Notes
Here is a unique lace built in the image of great perfumes, the perpetual reserve, gentle animal attraction. Salinity and warmth underline the meticulousness, harmony, and dexterity of MV. One discovers a rich wine, on greedy notes of pastry, ripe yellow fruits and spices (cinnamon). The mouth offers an elegant, round attack, then unrolls its silky touch, carried by a certain salinity and a touch of minerality. The aftertaste asserts itself with a beautiful freshness, a light menthol presence.
Blend: 80% Pinot Noir, 20% Chardonnay
This champagne is elaborated from a blend composed of 67% of the 2016 harvest, and 33% from the perpetual reserve, with 80% Pinots Noirs and 20% Chardonnays. Following 12 months of raising in oak barrels from the Argonne Forest, then 6 years on lees, this cuvée reveals itself and is definitely a remarkable wine !
In additions to the great salinity of Maison Henri Giraud’s champagnes, this Fût de Chêne MV16 reveals an extraordinary complexity.
