96pts Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Scents of black cherries and raspberries mingle with loamy earth, cedar and dried spices on the nose of the 2021 Janzen Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard. Full-bodied and concentrated, it manages to be more savory than fruity, though not lacking in fruit, with a supple framing of fine-grained tannins and a lingering, lip-smacking finish. It's an excellent example of the variety and site.
96pts Decanter
From the Beckstoffer To Kalon vineyard in Oakville. Aged 28 months in 100% new French Oak. The first vintage Bacio Divino produced from this site was from 2004. From blocks closer to Highway 29, this is a wonderfully aromatic red with excellent purity of fruit, redolent of black cherry and blackberry, and laced with graphite minerality. Expressive, lengthy and focused with superb balance.
Winemaker Notes
A concentrated core of red fruit expands quickly across the palate, releasing with an elegant and long finish. The fine grain tannins we’ve come to expect from this world-class site are abundant in this vintage but are already integrating well and they feel this vintage is very drinkable now, while maintaining the potential to evolve into something better over the next 20 years.
