Dense core with a mature ruby rim. Some maturity and balsamic notes on the nose, prune, cassis, wild herbs and oak derived spiciness. The palate combines density and freshness with ample dark fruit,cassis, cherry, liquorice and mild spice notes. A dense tannic backbone with fine polish and grain, good oak integration and fine intensity with a very long and lingering finish.

Jean Leon Vinya La Scala is a red wine from the D.O. Penedès made by Jean Leon. Behind this great wine we find a humble and exciting story that tells us about the life of Jean Leon, a Spaniard to ended up a big hit in Hollywood thanks to his restaurant.
This Gran Reserva is named after the restaurant that Jean Leon founded in Beverly Hills. La Scala was the local meeting point for celebrities during the Golden Age of Hollywood, such as Marilyn Monroe, immortalized on the label of this 2003 vintage according to the artist Josep Maria Subirachs' artistic vision.
Turning to the wine, it is made with grapes of the Cabernet Sauvignon variety. This wine is suitable for ageing. After fermenting in stainless steel vats the wine ages in new French oak barrels for 24 months followed by at least three years of ageing in the bottle.
