95pts Jeb Dunnuck
Jonata’s Todos is always a kitchen sink blend, and the 2016 is 60% Syrah, 10% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot, and the rest Petite Sirah and Viognier. It has stunning notes of black currants, crushed violets, liquid rocks, and graphite. This is followed by a full-bodied, beautifully pure, elegant wine that has terrific balance, awesome purity, and a great, great finish. Want to understand the style of this estate without shelling out the big bucks for the upper cuvées? Buy this wine.
92pts Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2016 Todos is a blend of 60% Syrah, 10% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot, 4% Petite Sirah and 1% Viognier, aged in 35% new French oak. Deep purple-black, it opens with notes of tar, potting soil, chargrill and graphite with wild blackberries, dried floral perfume, hints of peppered meat and red and blue fruit sparks. Full-bodied, it gives up oodles of lush fruits with earthy accents, segueing to wonderful chocolate and baking spice, with a frame of firm, chewy tannins and freshness to lift, finishing long and chalky textured.
92pts Vinous
The 2016 Todos is plump, juicy and inviting. Raspberry jam, plum and sweet spices all develop in the glass. Still a bit tightly wound, the 2016 has the potential to develop into a truly intriguing wine. This is an especially vivid, finely sketched edition of Jonata's entry-level red. Ordinarily I might say that I was impressed with these wines from Jonata, but quality is so consistently high now that it excellence is the norm. Matt Dees is one of the most brilliant winemakers of his generation. Year in year out I find myself drawn to Todos, the estate's entry-level wine, for the superb quality and value it offers.
Winemaker Notes
Expansive and focused, savory and chewy. This blend represents the perfect lens through which to view the confluence of the Santa Barbara sun and the Jonata sandy soils. A perfect match.
