95pts Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The La Spinetta 2019 Barolo Campè Vürsù is balanced and bright with a little more heft and overall fruit concentration. Dried cherry, blackberry, spice and black licorice all appear on the bouquet. This is smooth in consistency but shows a long, polished mouthfeel that is especially tight and elegant in this vintage. This is a 9,100-bottle release.
94pts James Suckling
Aromas of rose petal and stem with ripe plums and cinnamon. Full-bodied and very chewy with plenty of velvety tannins and rich fruit in the finish. This needs time to soften. Savory. Try after 2028.
92pts Vinous
The 2019 Barolo Campè is a powerful, dense wine. All the elements are turned up, maybe too much so. A blast of dark fruit, leather, smoke, incense and chocolate hits the palate, framed by swaths of muscular tannin that add intensity. In this tasting, the 2019 comes across as a bit heavy and pushed too far with extraction and oak. I prefer the Garretti, at least today.
Tasting Notes
Pale ruby red. Hints of black currant jam, white pepper, and caramel. Powerful and structured, elegant peppermint and incense notes: the finish is mineral and intense, with a rich tannic structure.
About the Wine
A complex and majestic Barolo, with an aromatic profile that ranges from rose petals to plum and black berries, leading up to white truffles and underbrush. The tannic structure is solid and harmonious, with a full and mighty finish.
