94pts Wine Spectator

Densely packed, with crushed plum, blackberry and black currant paste flavors that meld nicely together, set against a backdrop of roasted apple wood and tobacco. Features a late loamy hint that keeps it grounded. Rock-solid. Best from 2023 through 2035. 250 cases made.

92pts Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is a 225-case effort blended from several locations in Napa Valley. Bold cassis fruit comes in waves, backed by ample vanilla notes. It's full-bodied, rich and velvety, but it seems to lose a bit of momentum on the finish, the flavors falling away before the lasting warmth of elevated alcohol. Drink it young, before the fruit fades.

Winemaker Notes

This vintage is like a great novel, first creating a setting and a mood and then laying out a complex tale of twists and turns with every flip of the page.  In the 2018 Reserve, Cabernet Sauvignon shows its colder side; that is to say, the black, inward side of fruit. It opens with soothing tones of black cherry and dried currants, conjuring the smells of rain, pavement and wet iron.  It is an ethereal experience.  Then, the bouquet peels back to reveal sweet ripe black fruit, cassis, and tart cherry. The mouthfeel shows that this is a wine of complete harmony, as any great Reserve should be.  You’ll feel the youthful sting of acidic finesse and tannins that are poised to age well in this release of 225 cases.
