93pts Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Collector's Reserve has a deep garnet-purple color and compelling kirsch, black raspberries and redcurrant jelly sparks over a core of cassis, cigar box and tilled soil. Medium to full-bodied, firm and with a great intensity of black fruit and savory layers, it finishes chewy.
A true expression of Martin Estate’s pristine Rutherford terroir, the Collector’s Reserve is a wine of structured opulence. Sourced from the Estate’s oldest vines, planted in 1996 on alluvial soil, the low yielding crop develops tannins of unmatched richness and intensity.
Distinct flavors connect this classically flawless Cabernet Sauvignon with its birthplace; its sense of place is unmistakable. Aged for 20 months in French oak barrels from select artisan cooperages. Decanting is suggested, but never mandatory. Enjoy now, or cellar for two decades or more.
