91pts James Suckling
A lot of chocolate, coconut and vanilla on the nose with some ripe dark fruit. Some tobacco, too. Medium-bodied, firm and fruity. Delicious now.
From the Dry Creek Valley and Sonoma Mountain AVAs, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is a big, bright, wonderfully textured wine in the lineup that over-delivers. Blackberries, black cherries, chocolate, and dried herb notes make up the bulk of the bouquet, and it’s medium-bodied, silky, and as drinkable as they come. A blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Malbec, and the rest Petite Sirah and Merlot, aged in 50% new barrels, drink bottles over the coming 8-10 years.
The 2019 Olema Cabernet Sauvignon opens with a concentrated fruit centered nose filled with lovely aromas of dark currant pie and black cherry cigar box. The powerful palate has natural sweetness of dense fruit and lush dark chocolate and is balanced by smooth powdery tannins and followed by a long finish.
Blend: 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Malbec, 5% Petite Sirah, 4% Merlot
