91pts Jeb Dunnuck
A ruby hue, the 2020 Langhe Nebbiolo is sourced from 15- to 20-year-old vines in Barbaresco and is fresh with cinnamon, peach, and raspberry. Medium-bodied on the palate, with ripe raspberry, grenadine, orange zest, and dusty earth as well as a hint of peach on the finish, it is clean, has good length, and is a solid value to drink over the next 5-6 years.
91pts Wine Enthusiast
Very pretty and lifted aromas of macerated berries, savory herbs and incense emerge as the wine opens. Sour red cherries and cranberries shine on the palate, framed by fine tannins and a crunchy, fresh acidity on the finish. There is a touch of orange pithy bitterness on the finish.
90pts Wine Spectator
A juicy red highlighted by cherry, hay, menthol and green tea flavors backed by firm, dusty tannins and vibrant acidity. Long finish. Drink now through 2027. 1,600 cases made, 400 cases imported.
Vinous
The 2020 Langhe Nebbiolo is a very pretty wine. Sweet dried cherry, tobacco, mint and dried flowers are all a bit forward and suggest the 2020 is more of a near-term proposition.
Tasting Notes
Clear, bright, purple red with evident clearer tannic nuances around the glass edge. Olfactory sensations are persistent, fragrant and wide open exalting the fruit of the wine. It is also rounded by evident perception of strawberry and raspberry typical in this wine. Good gustative persistence with the classic light tannin astringency of Nebbiolo, very well rounded by the wood aromas and other fl avour components (proteins, salts, trivalent salts). Lovely finish, persistent and stimulating.
Winery Notes
The family’s spirit of continuous improvement, in the vineyard and the cellar, coupled with our passion, commitment and innovation always remain constant. They are joined today by our pride in being third-generation vine growers. But our philosophy has not changed since 1957: we primarily cultivate native varieties, in particular Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto, which make up 85 percent of our production. All the grapes we use come from the 42 hectares (104 acres) that we own and manage. In concert with the best local consultants, we follow the entire production cycle, from pruning the vines to marketing the 250,000 bottles that we make each year.
