There's a subtle succulence to this graceful Champagne, framing flavors of peach skin, ripe pear, Marcona almond and orchard blossoms. The fine, detailed mousse is raw silk†like in texture. Finishes with minerally fleur de sel and oyster shell notes. Disgorged December 2023. Drink now through 2029.

This Champagne comes from a top producer in the Côte des Blancs, based in the premier cru village of Cuis. This bottling shows maturity and fine bottle age. Its spice aroma and softened palate is ripe and full. Drink now. — Roger Voss

This NV Champagne 1er Cru Blanc de Blancs Cuis Brut is expressive, with more classic appeal, though it takes on a light reductive tinge, with flint and wet asphalt aromatics. It has more direct concentration, with fresh green apple underneath, lemon zest, and white blossoms. The palate is more focused and concentrated, with a long finish and a pronounced chalky texture. The palate is long and persistent, with fresh acidity. I think this will mature nicely and take on classic blanc de blancs custard in the future. Drink 2025-2045.

The entry-level bottling from the estate's home village of Cuis is always Didier Gimonnet's priority, despite the house having holdings throughout the Côte des Blancs. The village's cool, north-facing aspect comes across in the wine's crispy-fresh, delicate build, bright with lemon macaron and pear juice, but the unusual addition of 27% reserve wine aged in magnums adds a touch of creamy almond depth. Based on the taut, almost nervy 2021 vintage, showing assured purity and zip.
About the Bubbles
Pierre Gimonnet et Fils’ Champagne Cuis 1er Cru Blanc de Blancs Brut NV is a pristine and vibrant expression of Chardonnay from the premier cru vineyards of Cuis in the Côte des Blancs. This non-vintage cuvée delivers a delicate and nuanced profile, beginning with aromas of lemon zest, green apple, and white peach, accented by floral hints of acacia and subtle notes of toasted almond and chalky minerality. On the palate, it is precise and energetic, offering flavors of citrus, crisp pear, and a touch of brioche, supported by a fine mousse and lively acidity. The finish is long, refreshing, and mineral-driven, showcasing the elegance of its terroir.
The Gimonnet family’s commitment to meticulous viticulture and craftsmanship is evident in every detail of this wine. Grapes are hand-harvested from sustainably farmed vineyards, with many vines averaging over 40 years of age. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel to preserve freshness and purity, and the wine benefits from extended lees aging, which adds texture and complexity. A balanced dosage enhances the wine’s brightness and harmony without overshadowing its natural vibrancy.
Cuis 1er Cru Blanc de Blancs is a versatile Champagne, pairing beautifully with seafood dishes such as oysters, seared scallops, or sashimi, as well as light poultry or creamy cheeses. Its crisp and elegant profile also makes it an ideal aperitif for any occasion. This cuvée exemplifies the refinement and precision that Pierre Gimonnet et Fils brings to every bottle, making it a timeless choice for lovers of pure Chardonnay Champagne.
