This is the second wine of classed growth Grand-Puy Ducasse. With half-and-half Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, it obviously has much of the Merlot that did not make the cut for the top wine. That means the wine has smoothness and accessibility and will mature relatively quickly. The wine is full and dense with fine smokiness as well as tannins. Editors' Choice

Wonderful florality on the nose, perfumed and pretty. Really quite expressive. Good texture, lively fruit and then settles with some creamy/chalky flavours but underpinned by good acidity, before a slightly green and spicy touch on the finish.

The second wine of this notable château, the 2019 Prelude A Grand-Puy Ducasse sports a deep purple/plum hue as well as a lively bouquet of red and black fruits, wet river rock, smoked tobacco, and chocolaty oak. This carries to a rich, medium to full-bodied Pauillac with good mid-palate density, notable ripeness, plenty of tannins, and a great finish.
