Notes of tanned leather, spices, tree bark and soil make for an earthy nose on this wine. Sweeter, denser fruit appears on the palate, from cherry-strawberry pie to ripe tomatoes. Relaxed tannins but persistent acid keep the fruit rich but not velvety.

Ghiaia Nera is Tenuta Tascante’s demonstration of the possibilities for Nerello Mascalese from black volcanic soils. The name means “black gravel,” which describes the volcanic soil of the vineyard Subtle aromas of orange peel, cherries, and dried flowers follow through to a medium body, fine tannins and a refined, subtle finish. Aged in 25hl oak cask for 12 months.

The perfect blend between the Nerello Mascalese grape and the volcanic soil of Etna, this wine comes from terraces surrounded by chestnut and oak woods, an area rich in biodiversity. Soft tannins, with freshness and drinkability. Aged in large non-invasive oak barrels to which the Nerello Mascalese variety is well suited.
