About the Wine
Matt Hardin’s deep bond with his vineyard shines through in this project. He personally chose 18 of its finest rows, selecting only the most flawless clusters to carry forward. Every grape underwent rigorous sorting, reflecting an unwavering commitment to purity. In the skilled hands of Thomas Rivers Brown, this fruit evolves into a wine of striking depth and nuance. Marked by his hallmark finesse—lush yet precise, bold yet harmonious—the 2022 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon enchants the palate. It’s a wine that balances strength with grace, lingering vividly in memory well beyond the final pour.
About the Winery
When our predecessors settled here in 1852, they landed on some spectacular Napa Valley terroir. Like the six generations of farmers and ranchers behind us, we’re wholly devoted to that land, tailoring our rigorous farming and winemaking processes to each distinctive site.
Matt Hardin has managed some of Napa’s most iconic vineyards. Thomas Rivers Brown has crafted some of Napa’s most celebrated and scored wines. They’re each at the absolute top of their game, and in fifteen years working together, they’ve teamed up on projects like Maybach, Outpost, Pulido-Walker, Casa Piena, and Caterwaul.
There’s the Napa Valley you know, then there’s Section 15. Hidden in rolling hills, surrounded by ancient oak trees, it’s a secluded grape-growing paradise. You won’t hear the bustle of Highway 29 here—just birds warbling, insects flitting, and wind sweeping the tall grasses as temperatures drop with the setting sun. It’s pure, peaceful, and bursting with exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon.
No one knows this site like grower Matt Hardin. He was born and raised here, so he’s had his hands in the alluvial and colluvial soils since he was a kid. So he knows exactly how the Clone 7 Cabernet develops a stunning depth of flavor in the Pope Valley’s sweltering afternoons, and acidic structure during cool nights. At once vibrant and intricate, this wine pairs classic Napa refinement with a touch of wild exuberance.
