Fresh green-apple notes abound on this wine's fruity nose. The palate shows similar verve, bubbling with liveliness on the slender body. It's dry and apple-scented on the finish.

Tasting Notes

Refined and elegant bubbles, delicate notes of red berries on the nose, clear and fruity on the palate, with surprising finesse, length and freshness. This cuvée reveals the exceptional potential of the Burgundy terroir for sparkling wine.

With its elegance and complexity, this cuvée can seduce the most demanding tasters. Perfect for an aperitif, it can also be drunk with food such as fish, seafood and white meats or also with desserts. The ideal tasting temperature is 7-8°C.

Winemaker's Notes

Our crémants are derived from plots dedicated to the production of Crémant de Bourgogne. The vine is worked specifically to obtain the best possible base wines. Harvesting is carried out only by hand, yields are limited, pressing is gentle, and the base wines are vinified separately. It is then that the blending comes into play, a subtle exercise that defines the house style of our wines. The wine is then bottled, respecting the traditional method of second fermentation to create the bubbles and is aged for a minimum of 12 months. After all these stages we can then carry out the disgorgement, the dosage and then finally label the bottles.

About the Winery

Henri Champliau is a family-owned sparkling wine producer in Mercurey, located in the heart of the Côte Chalonnaise region of Burgundy. The company was founded by Alexandre Graffard in 2016, who named the winery after his grandfather, who held deep admiration for the terroir and craftsmanship of Burgundy.

Operating as a négociant, Alexandre believes it’s all about sourcing and works directly with his growers to obtain high-quality grapes. “No middleman,” says Alexandre , “I want to be the first person to select the grapes and I take all the best sources I can find.” Henri Champliau produces both Charmat-method wines and traditional method Crémant de Bourgogne.

Crémant de Bourgogne Brut Authentique is produced with Pinot Noir and a small percentage of Chardonnay, vinified separately in small lots before assemblage and 15 months of aging sur latte. “I call the wine ‘Authentique’ because of the Pinot Noir,” says Alexandre, “Pinot Noir is the identity of Henri Champliau.”
