Greer Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 - 750ml
Greer Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 - 750ml

In contrast, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is more round and supple, with loads of pure Napa magic in its notes of crème de cassis, toasted spice, smoked tobacco, and cedar pencil. Full-bodied, opulent, and loaded with fruit, it still stays pure, precise, and focused, with ripe tannins, a layered, multi-dimensional texture, and one incredible finish. I finished my notes with “Awesome.” Both the 2018 and 2019 are incredible, singular wines readers should seek out.

Glorious purity of fruit here with blackcurrant and violet aromas that follow through to a full body. Yet, it’s tight and poised, showing the essence of cabernet sauvignon. Super length. A joy to taste. Fantastic, but try after 2025.

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon reflects a slightly warmer vintage than the 2018, showing a bit more power and darker fruit characters but also slightly less perfume. Offering up classic notes of cassis and dark loam, it's still tremendously supple, concentrated and long. From a superbly situated three-acre vineyard on Manley Lane in Rutherford, I suspect availability will largely be limited to the mailing list.

The personal project of winemaker Nigel Kinsman and his wife, Shea. The name is derived from their surnames. Their first vintage was 2016 and the wines are currently made at Wheeler Farms in St Helena. Sourced from the rugged Diamond Mountain vineyard that used to be named Reverie, high above Diamond Creek's Red Rock Terraces vineyard. Co-fermented Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. An extremely bright nose of dark black fruits and wild herbs with pops of vanilla and sweet cedar. Loads of concentration on the palate with burly mountain tannins through which juicy black cherry, plum and black currants emerge, tinged with graphite and mountain herbs, evolving into the blue-fruit spectrum with dried violets, crème de cassis and elegant minerality after time in the glass. A heady, contemplative red.
97pts Vinous
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is a flat out sinner. Rich, ample and explosive, the 2019 possesses tremendous depth and pedigree to burn. Dark red cherry, plum, lavender, spice and menthol race across the palate. Time in the glass brings out a whole range of aromas and flavors that add stunning complexity. Iron, scorched earth, tobacco and incense linger on the stent finish. What a wine!
