Tasting notes
Nose: powerful and complex nuttiness aromas in harmony with spicy notes, warm roasted coffee and cinnamon hints from the long contact with oak wood during the aging process.
Palate: On the palate, an array of flavours flourishes, mainly to toasted nuts and chocolate. The 40 Year-old is an intense and complex port with mellow and spicy aftertaste.
Vinification
The grapes were hand-picked and thoroughly selected to create an exceptional Port blend. The grapes are placed in thigh-deep granite treading tanks known as lagares, and were foot trodden. The final blend results from the selection of high quality ports, masterfully and skilfully combined to get a unique style and identity of 40 Year Old Maynard's.
