Tasting Notes

An elegant wine. Brilliant colour, with hints of green. Typical Chablis nose, where aromas of citrus (lemon) fern and even salty sensations predominate.

On the palate: Vigorous and lively, but in a soft mode. A lot of finesse and balance.

Vintage Notes

2023 stands out as one of the hottest years in Burgundy, even surpassing 2022. The grapes were harvested at perfect maturity. The wines are very aromatic with notes of yellow fruits mingling with flower hints. The palate is ample and full-bodied. They combine generosity, freshness, and finesse, with a climate that enhances the terroirs without overpowering them. Like 2022, the 2023 vintage is expected to be highly appealing.

Vineyard Notes

This wine comes from grapes exclusively harvested on the Drouhin Family Properties. These vineyards are mainly situated in the Valley of Vauvillien, not far from the Grand Crus, between the Premier Crus of Montée de Tonnerre and Mont de Milieu.

In the sixties, when the Chablis vineyards were all abandoned, Robert Drouhin recognized the potential of this region which had been ravaged by the phylloxera disease a century before. He was one of the first Burgundy propriétaires who set about revitalizing the area.

The Kimmeridgian limestone contains millions of tiny marine fossils embedded in a kind of whitish mortar which may have been once the bottom of the sea...hundreds of million years ago. This marine origin gives the wines of Chablis their unique flavour.

Winery Notes

Maison Joseph Drouhin is led by the four great-grandchildren of Joseph Drouhin. Philippe, Véronique, Laurent, and Frédéric, each of them holds key and complementary positions to sustain and expand the family business. They grew up in the vineyards and acquired a deep understanding of wine alongside their father, Robert Drouhin. The fifth generation is also beginning to emerge, with Laurène, the eldest daughter of Véronique, joining the House in 2020.

Vintage after vintage, they uphold tradition and innovate, continually striving for that "elegant perfection" which has earned Joseph Drouhin wines their renowned reputation. Alongside them, a dedicated team of women and men contributes daily to perpetuate the House's tradition of excellence; we often refer to them as the extended Drouhin Family.
