I was able to taste three wines from Vincent Dauvissat. Starting with the 2018 Chablis, it’s beautifully done and unquestionably cut from the same cloth as the single vineyard releases. Offering up tons of salted citrus, crushed stone-like minerality, and hints of seaside-like iodine and marine notes, it hits the palate with medium-bodied richness, bright, racy acidity, solid mid-palate depth, and a crisp, laser focused texture and finish.

This is held on a reductive edge with refined, contained and certainly fresh citrus notes. The palate has very rich and assertive limes and white peaches. Very long, gently mealy and composed. More fruit than minerals, but very taut and refined for AC Chablis.

I always like Vincent Dauvissat’s Chablis villages bottling and the 2018 vintage is no exception. The wine is ripe and generously forward in style this year, but also with great cut and grip and a good foundation of acidity, so it is going to be delicious from the moment it is released. The nose delivers a fine constellation of pear, tangerine, a good base of limestone, dried flowers and citrus peel. On the palate the wine is full-bodied and rock solid at the core, with slightly broader shoulders than customary, but with a fine girdle of acidity, excellent grip and focus and a long, complex and wide open finish. There is a bit of uncustomary power here for this cuvée, but I do not think anyone is going to complain.

Clear pale colour, beautifully perfumed. This is completely enthralling. Evidently ripe, but the wine feels completely balanced. There is a lovely wealth of fruit on the palate with super balance, delicious sucrosity and a long fine finish. Five-Star Wine

The 2018 Chablis is showing very well, offering up a pretty bouquet of citrus oil, crisp orchard fruit, oatmeal and beeswax. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, elegantly textural and charming, built around ripe but lively acids and concluding with a delicately saline finish. Unusually youthfully charming and open-knit for a Dauvissat Chablis, while remaining very true to the appellation and the domaine's style, this will drink well comparatively young.

I knew that this would be too young, and it is, but I was curious anyway. A ripe but nicely fresh fresh nose flashes reasonably good Chablis character on the white-fleshed fruit and floral nose. The sleek, delicious and vibrant medium weight flavors exude evident minerality on the clean, dry and balanced finale where a touch of bitter lemon character slowly emerges. This is clearly still on the way up but it's not so far away that it couldn't be enjoyed now, provided that it's served slightly cooler than usual.
Vinous
The 2018 Chablis Village has a forward nose with hints of white chocolate and nougat emerging with time. The palate is well balanced and lightly honeyed on the entry, tinged with spice, crème caramel and orange pith. Approachable in style and drinkable now, although it should give several years of drinking pleasure.
Wine Spectator
This is lean, revealing lemon, green plum, apple, lanolin and earth flavors. The persistent finish offers refreshing acidity and a light tactile sensation.
About the Winery
Domaine Vincent Dauvissat is arguably the finest Domaine in Chablis. Established in the 1970s by Robert Dauvissat, the Domaine has passed down from father to son for three generations. Robert’s son René is to thank for establishing the reputation of the Domaine. Vincent began working with his father, René, in the 1970s and today runs the Domaine. A loyal following among France’s most esteemed restaurateurs sharply limits the availability of Dauvissat wines for export. Despite limited quantities, the wines have attracted the praise and attention of critics worldwide.
