Coming from a mix of Napa and Paso Robles fruit, the 2021 Lady Of The Dead is based on 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Syrah, 6% Grenache, and the rest mostly Mourv dre and Petit Verdot. It's a medium to full-bodied, ripe, silky wine that's nicely balanced and elegant, with nothing over the top or out of place. Red and black cherries, pepper, spice, and leafy herbs all define the aromatics, and it has fine tannins and is perfect for enjoying over the coming 7-8 years or so.

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2021 Lady Of The Dead is a blend of fruit, mainly Cabernet Sauvignon, 53% from San Luis Obispo and 47% from Napa Valley. Notes of black cherries, ripe blackcurrants, and blackberry preserves hop from the glass, with hints of camphor, graphite, and clove oil. The medium to full-bodied palate is soft and juicy with nice harmony and impressive length. 

Tasting Notes

The 2021 Lady of the Dead offers berries and spices in spades, with boysenberry, raspberry, and cranberry over allspice, cinnamon, and toasted oak. Already very open and easy to get to know, this wine has a juicy softness to it while packing a punch of concentrated fruit fullness. It builds layers of character in the glass, revealing more nuance, while never losing its focus on the fun of ripe dark fruit.

In 1977, Our Family purchased 100 acres in the iconic Spring Mountain District of Napa Valley. We planted just 5 acres in 1985 and launched FRIAS Family Vineyard with our first vintage in 1987. FRIAS now has 13 acres of hillside vineyards planted to Cabernet Sauvignon. We source premium fruit from Oakville & Yountville AVAs.

Second generation brothers Fernando and Manny Frias Jr. are at the helm of this artisanal family winery. Todd Heth has been our winemaker since 2004.
