Tasting Notes
Beautiful bright purple color with slight purplish reflections typical of Gamay. Nose with aromas of ripe red fruits, spicy notes. On the palate the typical minerality of the terroir emerges, as well as elegant aromas of ripe red fruits and black fruits characteristic of our old vines.
Winery Notes
The Beaujolais vineyard has existed since the 1st century AD. It extends over a hilly corridor along the Saône from Mâcon to Lyon, between 180 and 550 meters above sea level. It is made up of the 10 Crus du Beaujolais (including the AOC Brouilly and Fleurie), Beaujolais Villages and Beaujolais.
Located at the foot of Mont Brouilly, the Estate was owned by a Lyon family since the 19th century, before being taken over in 2019 and renamed CLÉMENT + JÉRÔME, named after the 2 buyers. He farms 8.5 ha in AOC Brouilly and 2.5 ha in AOC Fleurie. History accompanies the Domaine's vines, 65% of which date from before 1951, the oldest dating from 1931, i.e. almost a century old.
CLÉMENT + JÉRÔME produces wines focused on fruit aromas and fine tannins, faithful to the reputation of Crus du Beaujolais, and 100% from the Gamay grape variety. Manual harvesting, whole bunch vinification, and semi-carbonic maceration are the 3 signature stages of CLÉMENT + JÉRÔME wines.
Respect for the land and terroirs is a priority: conversion to organic farming is underway.
