Winemaker Notes
Entirely hand-harvested from 70-year-old vines grown on Sancerre's renowned 'Les Monts Damnés.' Fermented using only indigenous yeasts and no oak. Vibrant fruit and near-perfect balance, with citrus-filled flavors and mouthwatering salinity. With every minute in the glass, this wine adds complexity.
Winery Notes
Anthony Girard took over the family domaine in 2007. It was originally created by his great-grandfather Serge Renard. Serge planted the vines on the Monts Damnés, working everything by hand and "treuil", a kind of cable chain used to hoist supplies up a steep vineyard. Serge's son, Andre Renard-Fleuriet continued. He was followed by Sylvie Girard, his daughter and mother of Anthony and David, and she remains active with the harvest, as do their grandmother and great-grandmother. Harvest is achieved entirely by hand and fermentations are done with only neutral yeasts. In 2015 Anthony's brother David joined him in the domaine. There are 3 hectares of vines all on the Monts Damnés and the vines are now 70 years old.
