94pts Tasting Panel

From lauded winemaker Jonathan Pey and his colleague Abigail Estrada, this is a most approachable. stylized Cab from Napa Valley Blended with the four other Bordeaux varieties and aged 16 months in (35% new) French oak, it's ripe and ready, clocking in at 14.1% ABV. Dark plum and mocha are elegantly framed by pleasingly playful tannins, and the mouthfeel is round and sumptuous, with notable balance.

93pts Wilfred Wong

The 2022 Textbook Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon marries power and elegance, showcasing bold black fruit, pencil lead nuances, and subtle oak. Pair it with sautéed beef cubes enhanced by chili, garlic, ginger, fenugreek, and warm spices for a richly layered experience. (Tasted: December 21, 2024, San Francisco, CA)

91pts James Suckling

A dry, well-balanced red that features red fruit and balsam aromas, then fresh raspberry and blackberry flavors on a full body. A bit lighter and less tannic than many Napa cabs. Elegant and poised.

Winemaker Notes

"I set out to create a Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon with elegance and restraint, yet captured the unmistakable power of Napa. To that end, I went to great lengths to source from superb vineyards in sub-AVAs across the valley, beginning in Oakville. Once harvested, each lot was vinified and aged separately in 100% French oak before being meticulously blended. After years of careful craftsmanship, we proudly present a balanced deeply expressive bottling - a stunning reflection of Napa Valley." - Abigail Horstman.

About the Winery

Winemaker Abigail Horstman integrates four diverse sub-AVAs within Napa Valley; Oak Knoll, Yountville, Rutherford, and Calistoga, into the final blend. Aromatics open with blueberry, dried cranberry, blackberry jam, and mocha. Big supple tannins and ample oak flavors are sumptuous across the mid-palate. The result is a classic Napa Valley Cabernet with the boldness and intensity that the region is famous for, combined with the restrained elegance of Europe. It’s a wine you can drink now or cellar for years to come.
