93pts Decanter

Ripe and open on the nose - expressive scents of dark, sun-kissed fruit. Concentrated on the palate but with such a lovely weight and texture - slightly grippy, slightly chewy and cool overall. Feels nicely balanced, round and forward. Calm and fresh. Juicy strawberries with mint and aniseed.

93pts Wine Cellar Insider

Cigar box, licorice, espresso, and black currants with a trickle of chocolate define the core of this wine. From there, it gets even better with its fresh, juicy mouthful of blackberries, cocoa dust, and herbs. This is another screaming Left Bank value wine that consumers seeking serious QPR should be all over.

92pts Vinous

The 2022 Lanessan is bold and punchy right out of the gate. A blast of blue/purplish fruit, lavender, sage, menthol and licorice makes a strong first impression. Lanessan speaks with authority. It is quite assertive yet also poised, with fine balance and plenty of potential for the future.

92pts James Suckling

Blackberries, currants, tobacco leaf, underbrush, and fennel on the nose let you know the wine is going to be good. And with the first sip, you are not disappointed due to all the currants, roundness, and ripe, sweet, blackberries with freshness on display.

90pts Decanter

Concentrated fruits on the nose and palate, lovely intensity of pure fruit - this has clarity and a juicy core. Feels a touch tannic right now, covering up some of the fruit, but the initial expression was really delightful and this should be nice once the tannins melt a little. This has style and a juicy fun friendliness.

Wine Description

The 2022 Château Lanessan is a bold, medium-bodied Haut-Médoc red Bordeaux blend. It features aromas of dark blackberry, cassis, tobacco leaf, and cedar, backed by a juicy fruit core, firm tannins, and 14% alcohol. It earns strong marks like 92–93 points from critics and drinks best from roughly 2026 through 2045

Winemaker Notes

Multilayered, elegant nose. Lovely structure on the palate with fleshy tannins and a long finish.
