94pts James Suckling
Lovely aromas of chocolate and currants with bright cherries. Full body, tight and compacted tannins and a fresh and fruity finish. Crisp acidity. Linear and refined. Start drinking in 2021.
94pts Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2014 Langoa Barton was impressive in barrel and this bottle-showing completely vindicated that initial enthusiasm. It has an impressive bouquet with redcurrant, blackberry and cedar aromas, with a hint of violet as it opens in the glass. This is lovely. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent ripe black cherry and raspberry fruit on the entry. It comes across as a playful, joyous, exuberant Langoa Barton that is almost sensual on the long finish. What a great 2014 Saint Julien from team Barton! Form an orderly queue and load up on this gem.
93pts Wine Enthusiast
Firmly tannic and concentrated, this wine demonstrates how this property has developed impressively in recent years. It is certainly powerful, although managing to retain the Saint-Julien elegance. The blackberry fruits will develop well as it matures. Drink from 2024.
93pts Wine Spectator
This has a well-built core of cassis, blueberry and plum sauce flavors, coated with a ganache edge and kept honest by a graphite accent through the finish. Dense but plush, showing admirable ripeness for the vintage. Best from 2020 through 2035. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 5,000 cases made.

91pts Vinous
The 2014 Langoa Barton has a potent menthol-tinged bouquet that occludes the terroir expression and renders this a bit generic. The palate is powerful and lush, with candied red fruit, blood orange and allspice. The 2014 is a more modern-styled Saint-Julien, though it just about pulls it off. There's just a bit of alcohol lingering on the aftertaste, but I can abide that. Tasted blind at the Southwold 10-Year-On tasting.
90pts Jeb Dunnuck
The 2014 Langoa Barton is a fair clip back from the 2015, yet is still outstanding. Offering a rounded, supple, fruit-forward profile as well as perfumed notes of plums, cassis, licorice, and scorched earth, this medium-bodied beauty has sweet tannin and undeniably delicious, elegant style. It should drink nicely for 15 years or more. This cuvee is 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc raised in 60% new barrels.
Winemaker Notes
A palette of rich and various flavors for this Langoa 2014, blackcurrants with its natural roundness and crispness brings the guarantee of extreme freshness and some black fruits notes. It is a pure pleasure of the senses all at once, round tannins, bright acidity, powerful, so dark.
Blend: 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 12% Cabernet-Franc
