93pts Decanter
This classic expression of Chablis boasts aromas of ripe apple and grapefruit, oyster shell and minerals. The texture is lively and bright, with a classic equilibrium (alcohol at 13% and acidity of 5.5 g/L), yet the wine also shows a charmingly expressive, generous side. Should open up in three years and drink well over the next 20. Drinking Window: 2028-2050. (6/4/25)
92pts Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2023 Chablis, with the majority of its fruit sourced from the vineyards near Vincent Dauvissat’s La Forest, is a notable success and one of the top performers of the appellation. Soaring from the glass with scents of citrus oil, pear and dried flowers, it’s medium to full-bodied and textural, with lively acidity and a mineral finish. If only all Chablis would taste like this! (3/6/25)
91pts Burghound
There is even more Chablis typicity present on the ripe and fresh aromas of Granny Smith, lemon rind and soft floral nuances. There is again good volume and richness to the attractively vibrant medium weight flavors that conclude in a highly refreshing finale. This would benefit from developing better depth so a few years of keeping should prove beneficial. Drink: 2027+. (Oct 2024)
92pts View from the Cellar
As I mentioned last year, the domaine’s Chablis villages bottling hails from three different parcels, but the lion’s share comes from a lieu à dit that lies just below la Forest on the slope. The wine is every bit as lovely today as it was a year ago, offering up a bright and complex bouquet of pear, lemon, chalky soil tones, dried flowers, a touch of oyster shell and a topnote of citrus peel. On the palate the wine is pure, precise and full-bodied, with a beautiful core of fruit, a fine girdle of acidity, excellent focus and balance and outstanding backend minerality defining the long, complex and energetic finish. Great juice. 2026-2050+.. (Jan/Feb 2026)
90pts Vinous
The 2023 Chablis Village was quite reticent on the nose when tasted from barrel, in the same vein as the Petit Chablis, though it begins to open after a few swirls of the glass. The palate is very lemony, with hints of orange pith, a fine umami sensation with more weight on the finish than the Petit Chablis. Give this two or three years in bottle.
Winery Notes
Domaine Vincent Dauvissat is arguably the finest Domaine in Chablis. Established in the 1970s by Robert Dauvissat, the Domaine has passed down from father to son for three generations. Robert’s son René is to thank for establishing the reputation of the Domaine. Vincent began working with his father, René, in the 1970s and today runs the Domaine. A loyal following among France’s most esteemed restaurateurs sharply limits the availability of Dauvissat wines for export. Despite limited quantities, the wines have attracted the praise and attention of critics worldwide.
