97pts Vinous
The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Jaime is a seven-barrel lot of the best fruit off the Davies estate on Diamond Mountain. Silky tannins wrap around a core of inky dark fruit, chocolate, new leather, licorice and dark baking spices. More than anything, I am impressed by the wine's finesse and extraordinary beauty. Most of the fruit for this bottling is sourced from the Rock Garden block, which lies on the southern boundary of the property. The 2018 is one of the most finessed, elegant wines I have ever tasted off the ranch.
96pts Jeb Dunnuck
Not yet bottled, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Jamie sports a dense purple/blue color as well as a beautiful bouquet of crème de cassis, toasted spice, classy oak, and espresso roast. It's rich, full-bodied, and concentrated, yet it offers a seamless texture, gorgeous tannins, and the purity of fruit and freshness that's the defining features of this great vintage.
94pts Wine Enthusiast
This deep, saturated and complex wine offers opulent aromas of mahogany, blueberries and espresso. The palate brings on dark chocolate, black currants and mint wrapped in velvety, fine-grained tannins. Excellent concentration and layering make it extra appealing to sip.
Winemaker Notes
This deep ruby colored Cabernet opens with captivating aromas of dark fruit, including boysenberry and plum, accentuated with notes of cinnamon toast, dark chocolate, violet and tobacco. Integrated tannins anchor the wine’s bright entry of dense dark cherry and blackberry, combined with crushed herbs and baking spice. A juicy midpalate is supported by a balance structure and is followed by a long finish.
