After 28 months in a mix of French and American oak, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Monte Rosso Vineyard has emerged offering up aromas reminiscent of cola spice, cassis and a hint of capsicum. It's full-bodied, silky, refined and elegant, turning more red-fruited on the softly dusty finish. This bottling includes some fruit from Cabernet Sauvignon planted in the 1940s, plus 5% Petit Verdot.
Tasting Notes
Deep ruby in color, this wine leads with aromas of red currants, warmed cherry cobbler, sandal wood, cardamom, and vanilla oak. The rich palate brings notes of black plum, cassis, cola nut and coco dusted truffle. The wine finishes luxuriously with a supple mouthfeel and round tannin structure.
About the Wine
The Monte Rosso Cabernet Sauvignon was handcrafted from specifically chosen blocks on the historic Monte Rosso Vineyard, some of which are the oldest Cabernet blocks in California. The wine unveils aromas of toasted coconut and cedar and decadent notes black cherry and macerated berries and long, silky tannins. The unmistakable Monte Rosso spice makes its presence known in the form of cloves, cinnamon, and sage.
Vineyard Notes
The historic Monte Rosso Vineyard is one of California’s oldest Cabernet Sauvignon plantings that dates back to 1880. Located in the Moon Mountain subregion of Sonoma Valley, it sits in the shadow of the Mayacama mountain range at 1,300 feet above sea level. This beautifully balanced Cabernet Sauvignon is made from select lots from within this amazing vineyard.
Blend: 95% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot
