Description

Mettler Family Vineyards' Old Vine Zinfandel 'Epicenter' 2024 is a distinguished red wine from Lodi, California, crafted from 50-year-old vines in the Mokelumne River sub-appellation, renowned as the epicenter of Lodi's old vine Zinfandel district. This wine showcases the depth of the Mettler family's six-generation farming heritage, with grapes harvested from deep-rooted vines thriving in rich, sandy loam soils.

Tasting Notes

The 2024 vintage presents a deep, opaque crimson color, with aromas of ripe dark fruits, floral notes, and a hint of peppery spice. On the palate, it offers flavors of ripe cherry and blackberry, accompanied by nuances of black pepper, oak, licorice, and vanilla. The wine's fine tannins and medium finish highlight its balanced structure and lingering fruit and spice notes. With an alcohol content of 14. 5%, this Zinfandel pairs well with hearty stews, grilled meats, and a variety of cuisines, reflecting the unique character of Lodi's terroir.

Blend: 85% Zinfandel, complemented by 10% Petite Sirah, 3% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Winemaker Notes

Mettler "Epicenter" Old Vine Zinfandel tempts with its intense aromas of ripe wild blueberry and a hint of black pepper. The sturdy but softly integrated tannins yield to subtle notes of vanilla and cedar as the wine lingers on your palate. A light touch of acidity creates a balance while retaining the juicy fruit forward personality that is uniquely Zinfandel.
