Pol Roger Brut Rose 2019 - 750ml
95pts Jeb Dunnuck
The 2019 Champagne Vintage Rosé is a more exceptional wine in the range and is structured, compact, and defined, with ripe raspberries. It pours a rich pink but not overly dark color and includes 18% red wine from Hautvillers, Vertus, and Ambonnay. This wine is compact and powerful, with very nice energy, real structure, saltiness, and rhubarb, along with a refined, pinpoint, lively, zesty mousse. There is fantastic purity here, with clarity and ripeness supported by refreshing acidity, and it can age for two decades or more without issue.
95pts James Suckling
Aromas of cherries, almonds, peach cobbler and esters follow through to a medium body with tangy acidity and flavors of grenadine, fruit punch, lemons and sweet spices. Balanced and structured, with round bubbles.
94pts Wine Enthusiast
A well-cut rosé Champagne, with the tang of blood orange–fueled acidity animating flavors of pureed raspberry, pink grapefruit pith, grated ginger, red licorice and pastry dough. With a fine, raw silk–like texture to the mousse, this is long and elegant. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
Winemaker Notes
Pale salmon with delicate pink hues. Great intensity of color with a fine and persistent effervescence. The nose is intense and reminiscent of a basket of red fruits where raspberry, redcurrant and blackcurrant mingle, with the added nuances of exotic mango and papaya. With time and air, the floral aromas of rose and honeysuckle then dominate. Mouth-filling on the palate with some sophistication and an impressive length. Despite the obvious ripeness on the palate, the wine has a terrific freshness and very present acidity suggesting a bright future for this cuvée.
The Brut Rosé Vintage 2019 is the ideal choice to accompany fish such as grilled salmon or even sushi. It also marries perfectly with fruit tarts and other fruit desserts; try pairing with a forced rhubarb fool, the sharpness of the fruit complementing the elegant structure of the wine.
